Feed the Hungry Program
Since September 1987, a delcious hot meal is prepared in the organization's dining facility to feed all the hungry people in the community that will come. Thousands of hungry people have passed through our doors.
In-House Food Bank
A week's supply of groceries is distributed to needy families and individuals on an emergency basis. Many families and individuals have benefited from our in-house food bank. LWCSS realizes that handouts are not the answer but often times this gestures is the door opener to positively affecting peoples lives.
Homeless / Drug Rehabilitation
Nehemiah Restoration Project
LWCSS is making an impact on the homeless, drug and alcohol addicts' ranks through its long-term residential drug rehabilitation program, also known as the Nehemiah Restoration Project. With its 20-bed facility, 50 new additional beds will soon be available in our veterans exapnsion program. (click here for more)
Jails and Prisons
The prison ministry includes an on-going ministry at an established church at Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, and regular visits to the various states correctional facilities. After care is provided to inmates upon release.
Learning and Development Center
Our computerized Learning and Development Center is presently being updated to meet all (CTC) standards. A Community Technology Center is a community service or educational facility where computers and related communications technologies are available to people who otherwise might have little or no opportunity to use or learn to use these technologies. It provides instruction and training to the resident clients, children in after-school programs, and adults and business people in the community. The learning center allows hand-on traing and instructions in GED studies.
